Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree according to which the pilot of the Tax Free project was extended until December 31, 2020. Dmitry Medvedev included Primorye and Khabarovsk in Tax Free zone, Leningradskaya Oblast was also included in this Tax Free regime.
“The number of foreign tourists in Russia continues to grow, this is good for the country. In order to enhance the effect for the economy as a whole, we must develop the infrastructure and improve the quality of services, ”the Prime Minister of Russia noted in his opening remarks.
In addition to expanding the geography of the Tax Free system, changes were made in the participation of retail stores in the project.
“To the 13 regions where all this works, three more will be added: the Leningradskaya Oblast, the Primorsky and Khabarovsky kray. And we remove the binding of stores where purchases take place to specific addresses that were specified in the previous version of the decision. Now, not only organizations that are fixed in specific houses or on the streets, but the entire retail trade of the region will be able to participate in the project. Of course, if it is conducted by Russian legal entities, ”concluded Dmitry Medvedev.
Recall that the Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, Alexander Kozlov, repeatedly emphasized the need to expand the program to international airports in the Far East.
“During the pilot project in 2018, foreign citizens bought goods worth 8 billion rubles in Russia. The average check for purchases from foreigners using Tax Free was 100 thousand rubles, the most active buyers were Chinese. And it is no secret that the largest number of tourists from China visits Moscow and St. Petersburg, and Vladivostok is in third place. Therefore, Tax Free, I am sure, will bear fruit, ”said the head of the Ministry of Eastern Development. Dmitry Medvedev included Primorye and Khabarovsk in Tax Free zone.
