Far East Investment Promotion and Export Support Agency provide assistance in enhancing the interaction of Far Eastern Russian regions with Indian partners, including through memorandums signed in August between Russian Far Eastern regions and Indian states and Far Eastern Business Commission fly to India in late of November.
According to the Director-General of ANO IPA Leonid Petukhov, a delegation of the Agency and representatives of the Far Eastern regions are scheduled to visit India in late November. “We are consistently strengthening cooperation with our Indian partners. The agency organized a visit of several Indian business delegations to the Far East. The biggest event was the arrival in August of more than 130 Indian companies in Vladivostok. This delegation has become the largest of those that India has ever sent to other countries. They discussed the interaction in the field of electric power, mining and forestry, medicine, agriculture, education, and real estate, ”he said.
The head of ANO IPA recalled that the delegation’s visit resulted in the signing of memoranda. The Republic of Buryatia and the state of Maharashtra have planned cooperation in the field of engineering and tourism. The Trans-Baikal Territory and the state of Uttar Pradesh have agreed on cooperation in the field of agriculture and the food industry. Sakhalin Oblast and the state of Haryana have outlined the prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas industry. The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the state of Gujarat intend to discuss the implementation of projects in the diamond industry. “Now we are moving step by step in all these areas. In particular, during the upcoming visit, we plan to discuss with the leadership of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, as well as representatives of relevant companies, issues of investment cooperation in the diamond cutting industry, wood processing, and agro-industry. A meeting is also planned with the leadership of the Ministry of Oil, Natural Gas and Steel of the Republic of India to discuss the possibility of Indian companies joining projects for the supply of coking coal from Russia, ”Leonid Petukhov explained.
Note that attracting Indian investors to the Far East is one of the activities of ANO IPA. At the end of October, a business mission of Indian companies headed by the Minister of Oil, Natural Gas, and Steel of the Republic of India Dharmendra Pradhan was in Vladivostok. The business mission included the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Russia, Bala Venkatesh Varma, representatives of JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Coal India Limited, Steel Authority of India Limited, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil Corporation, Engineers India Limited. The visit of the business delegation was the continuation of a series of events that took place after the Eastern Economic Forum and were the result of an agreement between the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and the Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Mod. Recall that on the fields of the WEF-2019 in the presence of the heads of state, an agreement was signed on cooperation in the field of coking coal production in the Far Eastern Federal District between ANO IPA and the Indian company Coal India Limited.
