In particular, the production of cucumbers reached 142 thousand tons (+42%), tomatoes — 52.5 thousand tons (+17.7%), other vegetables and green crops — 3.9 thousand tons (+39.2%), the Ministry estimates.
In 2019, agricultural organizations and farms collected a record 1.14 million tons of vegetables in winter greenhouses, improving the result of 2018 by 14%. Lipetsk and Moscow regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, as well as the Volgograd region became the leading regions in the production of indoor vegetables.
Since the beginning of the year, greenhouse enterprises of the Lipetsk region have collected 27.6 thousand tons of vegetables, including 20.2 thousand tons of cucumbers, 7.3 thousand tons of tomatoes and 69 tons of eggplants, the regional administration reports. The Magnit retail chain plans to increase the production of vegetables in its greenhouse complexes by 30% this year. The company will expand the Green line project by building the first stage of a greenhouse complex in the Tikhoretsky district of Krasnodar territory. On 27 hectares, 23 thousand tons of vegetables will be grown there per year and production of greenhouse vegetables has broken a record in Russia.
In the Stavropol territory this year, the area of greenhouse complexes should increase from 198 ha to 300 ha. By 2021, when implementing planned projects, the volume of production of greenhouse vegetables in the region will be about 120 thousand tons, the Ministry of agriculture of the region previously reported. In particular, the third stage of the complex “Sunny gift” on more than 26 hectares in the region is being built by the holding “Eco-culture”.
According to the Committee of agriculture of the Volgograd region, since the beginning of the year, the region has collected almost 18.6 thousand tons of greenhouse vegetables — almost twice as much as in the same period last year. Over the past five years, the area of greenhouses in the region has grown by 2.5 times — from 48 ha to 115 ha. in Addition to increasing production, enterprises in the sector are also expanding the range of products grown, so, in January, the Volzhsky agricultural complex collected the first crop of eggplants.
